Four years before I signed on to Life Magazine, The Charlotte Observer sent me to Washington, D.C. for a few days in 1966. One day I wandered into a senate hearing that Bobby and Abe Ribicoff were chairing. The hearing hadn't begun yet. No one challenged me so I got as close as I could and began taking pictures - this closeup with my trusty 105 mm lens on the ubiquitous Nikon F. My second camera had a wide- angle lens.
