In photographing people there is the constant balancing act of needing to make something happen and accepting the risk of just letting it happen. You are looking through the camera, it's focused, you have your finger on the button, but what you see isn't quite right. You waste a few frames to keep your subject interested, to show you are still interested. I wait for the small space between the awkward moments and the moment of grace when people relax and right in front of your camera, become themselves.
